"ME AND DEATH PART 1"

HAHAHAHA

Can't really sleep last two night and woke up very early early in the morning you know.

Yesterday was the biggest day of all for my FYP1.

It was the "PRESENTATION DAYYYYY !!! "

SCARE TO DEATH.

Guess maybe this is how do I look a night before the presentation day. HAHAHA

GOSH!!! INHALE - EXHALE - BISMILLAHIRRAHMANIRRAHIM

My presentation was held at the FKP Meeting Room at 11 am
and evaluated by Dr. Dewan ofcourse, my SV and Dr. Amir Azizi as the panel.
Both of them were foreign lecturers, mampuih kene spekong omputih all the time.
HAHAHA

Overall, I am very satisfied with my presentation and did received some constructive comments regarding my gantt chart.

Dr Amir said I need to make it more specify and detail as what I prepared is too general for him.

Thanks a lot to both of them for all the comments. They really help me with my lacking.
And thanks too for the positive praised.

Click here for the slide show of my presentation

I guess Dr. Amir really loves this sebab dia habaq kat chek, amboi very kalaful nohh ;)

Eh2, takde lah. Gheti pulak dia sembang utaqa.

Kiki, he said, woo your slides very colourful!

And here are some of the photos snapped during my presentation. *credit to Faiszil :)

Happy sliding my slides!
xoxo

Ouch forget to mention, I really TABIK la Dr. Dewan style.
He's kinda the one who really cares about his student.
He asked us to come and meet him an hour before the presentation started.
He taught us how to present, how to tackle the audience, and give us some space to ask anything that we "pening2 lalat" about, and the BEST PART is he motivated and convinced and believed in us that we can do our very best.

Like he always said, RELAX AND FEEL FREE!

"PUTTING THEM TOGETHER"

The 8th academic weeks and now I am busy working on the Chapter 3 - Methodology.
First come first, I need to sketch a flow chart of how am i going to conduct my project from the starts to the ends. This is a crucial part as I don't want to miss any single things that I should have done or I should be concerned of.

Sometimes it's more effective to visualize something graphically rather than describe it with words. That is the essence of what flow charts can do for us. Flow chart explain a process clearly through symbols and text.

My flow chart included the type of material chosen, types of heat treatment processes implemented, types of material testing executed and not to forget the parameter set.

All of the details nor parameters I gained from my previous reading of other scholar reading materials.

Here is the TIPS! ;)

Read - Understood - Jotted down - Compiled

So, lets get some view of my flow chart.

HAHA on my way to meet the SV to propose the flow chart.
Pray for me guys that he'll approve this!

If YES, HEAVEN! can take a nap for a while.
xoxo

"CITATION - HOW TO?"

Now is trying to get the Chapter 2 done. Chapter 2 is regarding the LITERATURE REVIEW. Now I understand how importance it is to read the journals, articles, books and any other sources as much as I can. Any facts or findings from the scholarly previous researches that relate to my project are cited in this chapter.

There are many reason why it is important to cite the resources that you consult when researching a paper. The most important of these are:

  • Gives credit to authors whose works you have used
  • Provides a trail by which others can locate and track down the materials you consulted
  • Provides evidence of your research

Which citation style should be used is depending since there are three major citation styles:

  • American Psychological Association Style (APA) - the most common style in the social sciences (psychology, education, sociology etc.)
  • Chicago (or Turabian) Style - commonly used in the humanities (history, philosophy and etc.)
  • Modern Language Association Style (MLA) - used in English and in some other disciplines in the humanities

Hehe let me teach and show you how to make the citation easier by using the Microsoft Word.

Click "References" tab - "Insert Citation" - "Add New Source"

"Create Source" window is pop up and you can simply do the citation by choosing "Type of Source" and fill in the blanks.

See, EASY right? piece of cake! chewaah. HAHAHA. No need to pening2 how to do the citation in the correct way. This one help much, manageable and TIME SAVERRRRRRR guys!

Legaaaaa banyak noh? ;)

"THE SHERIFF"

Today is the day I was scheduled to submit the first draft of my Chapter 1. This chapter include few sub-headings which are the background of the study, problem statement, objectives and project scopes. The submission must be done within 0900H to 1645H on the same day.

However, the paper submission is under "THE SHERIFF" control, not directly submitted to the SV. He is in charged of collecting those papers and supervising students HAHAHA so that no one ever had a chance to break the due dateline given.

To approve the submission, "THE SHERIFF" will stamp our paper's front page.
STAMPED!
SUCCESSFULLY SUBMITTED!

Haha don't play-play, this is a way to ensure and to train the students be serious on DATELINE!
Don't take things for granted, for sure.

The BEST part is, 10 marks are freely given if you are successfully succeeded met the dateline!

Happy reading!

"NEW BESTIES" ARE ATTACKING!

After few meetings and discussions with the SV, we had mutually agreed on the title of my FYP which is
"The Effect of Heat Treatment and Thermal Cycling On The Mechanical Properties of Mild Steel".
We chosen the mild steel after taking consideration on few factors. One of them is the behavior of mild steel that respond well to heat treatment processes.

To investigate the effect, I will conduct two types of material testing which are the Tensile Test and the Micro Vickers Hardness Test.

Here comes the time that I have to spend some time to read and try to get the best understanding on whatever matters related to my project.  Journals, articles, books are now officially my new best friends!

HAHAHAHAHA.

Read for 5 minutes, go for SLEEP nap like hours!

Here, one of  my favourite readings. Maybe you guys can make it as your reference too, in case you are doing the same case study as mine. It is good since it covered most of the material properties and behaviours of the tensile test. This is given to me by one of my master student friend, Ida. She's a great friend with a great personality. Really helpful and cute too. Tadaaa hee ;)

See, all the few highlighted parts. Trying to proof that I did went for sleep after then.
HAHAHA.

"HELLO, SV! "

The day when the battle begins!

"First come first serve basis" is the concept implemented in my faculty.

We were allowed to choose any of the Professors, Dr, and Lecturers to become our Supervisor.

They'll do the guidance, supervise the project progress and advisor as well.

Since I am taking the Mechatronics course which can be divided into sub-disciplinary including manufacturing/mechanical and electrical/electronics, I have more option on what am I going to do with my project, which major I'll go for.

I am someone who have more interest on mechanical sites compares to electrical and electronics.

Seronok woh kijo dengan minyak2, pakai overall and move around.
Meh2, calit sikekk minyak hitam kat muka tu! Heh heh

Therefore my aim is to go and hunt for lecturers that have expertise in materials and manufacturing.

Finally, "HELLO, SV!"

Taadaaaa tadaaa daa daaa

I've approached Dr. Dewan Muhammad Nurruzaman and he accepted me well as his apperentice sangattt!
Heh heh.

Dr. is a foreign lecturer from Bangladesh and used to be my lecturer during last semester, teaching me in Machine Design subject.

Kira2, dah kenal dah la sikek2, and knows bit on his working style.

Heh heh.
Oh this one, kena heh heh lebih sikek.

Proudly present, my classmate!
We are sharing the same SV.
Nama dia Adeqqq Ijil.
Bujang nyaris2 terlajak.
Penah kena tahan kat lokap sebelum register subject FYP.
Tak caya?
Ni buktinya!

Heh heh.

Ehh ehh. Sy pun kena tahan jugak ke?

Heh heh. Just kidding.
Kindly ignore handmade desk name plates tuu.
This was actually snapped for Project Management subject.

"SEARCHING"

Forgot to mentioned that actually each of us was required to make an account from any of blogging tools preferred.

There were many to choose from.
Tumblr.
Wordpress.
Blogspot.
And the list goes on.

Mine is the blogspot.

I barely do the blogging things neither blog walking.
But I'll try my best to get used and  make out the benefits to the max.

The objectives of blogging as follows:

  1. To record the living journal of the project.
  2. A casual way of documentation.
  3. Implementing the usage of modern tools i.e marketing tools.
  4. Act as an additional point for Supervisor and Panel to refer for points.

Hmm. First thing first. Look out for the name of my blog.

What would be the appropriate the most?
What should I get it named?

Need something that can represent and defines.
HAHA name kene cantik bohh baru semangat sikekk nok buat kijo.

Hah! After done with some thinking. Finally I came out with this!

Tadaaaa daaa daaa tadaaa! Heh heh

"THE OILER AND THE BLACK GANG"

One of the Naval Term I've learned when I was a cadet officer under training of RMN.

It defines:

"Nautical slang for the engine room crew. Included the chief engineer, who ran the engine and supervised; oilers and wipers, who lubricated and maintained the engine; and firemen and coal-passers, who fed the steam boilers."

So I guess, the job scope coverage on engineering sites able to represent for who I am.

An engineering student.
And
The RMN Reserves Officer.

Didn't it so?

Definitely.
Fully defined.

Chewaaaah.

"THE NEW NORMAL"

"Back to School" season is back!  Officially in the first semester of 2013/2014 session which means another semester to go before graduation. Can't wait and who wouldn't be? Hoyeahhh! But it also a Ho-oo-ye-aahh since I have to struggle more this time for efwaipeee FYP. HAHA so-so "hoyeaah".

We had our very first meeting regarding the FYP on Friday, Sept, 20,13 at the FKP Lecture Hall 2 coordinated by our coordinators, Prof. Ajisman and Madam Kartina. Both of them were responsible in handling students plus any matters and procedures arise regarding FYP.

We were briefed on the FYP processes flow, covering all year round; from the verifying the Supervisor and project title until the final process which is submitting the FYP report compliance to UMP format. Also, the assesment distribution and rubric, what we should and shouldn't. And here some of the input I gained during the briefing session on what is the importance of implementing the FYP for the final year students.

"It requires the student to demonstrate his/her ability to apply all the learned knowledge , use scientific methods to perform research, using tools to solve problems and exercising good ethics to prepare his/herself as future budding engineers."

See see see.. hihi am i an engineer-to-be? In sha Allah. All of us will. Amin.

So guys, lets get started and conquer the battlefield!

"You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else" - Albert Einstein

Be prepared mentally and physically. Here. New semester. New tasks. And all of the above. It is a normal things to go through.

"The New Normal"

May Allah ease everything that come may.
